Echoes through ashes is a melodrama short film. Grief drives an apprehensive teenage girl to hoarding as she struggles in her relationship with her homophobic father. We cover the downfall of Halia's relationship with her father after the sudden passing of her mother. One location and possibly one scene on the backlot weekend 6.
CASTING:
Halia: Lead, female early 20's to play high school teen, any ethnicity. Halia enjoys rules, they are meant to protect us and not be broken. After losing her mother and coming to terms with her queerness, all rules seems to be out of touch and Halia begins hoarding to cope.
Fay: Supporting, female early 20's to play high school teen, any ethnicity. Fay is Halia's girl friend. She doesn't let life boxes or labels ware her down. She lives her life for herself and lovingly urges her girlfriend to let loose.
Frank: Lead, male middle aged to play a father, any ethnicity. Frank means well but his limited world view leads him to act in malice. He hasn't dealt with the loss of his wife and feels his daughter is walking a path of sin and must be stopped.
Mom: Supporting, female middle aged to play a mother, any ethnicity. She is the perfect memory of a mother that Halia clings to throughout everyday.
